Washington Mystics hire Thibault as coach, GM

Two-time WNBA coach of the year Mike Thibault is the new head coach and general manager of the Washington Mystics.

The team announced his hiring Tuesday.

The Mystics went a combined 11-55 the past two seasons and parted ways with coach and GM Trudi Lacey in September.

Thibault was fired by the Connecticut Sun last month after leading them to eight playoff appearances in 10 seasons, including trips to the WNBA Finals in 2004 and 2005.

Thibault went 206-134 in the regular season with the Sun, earning WNBA coach of the year honors in 2006 and 2008. He needs six victories to pass former Houston Comets coach Van Chancellor to become the winningest coach in league history.

Before joining the Sun, Thibault was an assistant with the NBA's Milwaukee Bucks.

Health and Fitness Talk ? Prevent Heart Disease

preventing it by following some simple suggestions and by adopting a healthy lifestyle you can help yourself considerably regardless of past family history, age or sex.

  • Do not smoke or use tobacco. Smoking is one of the primary risk factors in developing cardiovascular disease. ?All the harsh chemicals that are in a cigarette can lead to a narrowing of the arteries or atherosclerosis which will eventually lead to heart attack. Also the nicotine in cigarettes or any tobacco product causes your heart to work harder because it narrows your blood vessels and increases your heart rate and blood pressure and the carbon monoxide replaces the oxygen in your blood causing your heart to work harder to supply oxygen to your blood. ?Women who are pregnant or taking birth control pills should not smoke either as their risk of a heart attack is greater in women who do not smoke. Incredibly enough, when a person quits smoking their chances of heart disease drops by dramatically within one year.
  • You must exercise for at least 30 minutes per day. ?Daily exercise will reduce your risk of cardiovascular disease and help you control your weight better. Physical exercise will allow you to control your weight and make your heart stronger and will also allow your blood vessels to open more thus allowing more blood to enter your heart and this is always a very good thing because the more blood that your heart can efficiently pump through your body the better you will be altogether. ?Daily exercise will also help you in lowering your blood pressure, lower high cholesterol and diabetes. Stress will be a thing of the past as a good workout eliminates stress which is a major factor of heart disease. Think outside the box and take up activities such as housekeeping, gardening, walking the dog or anything that includes physical activity as these will keep you more motivated and on track in your daily exercise chores.
  • Drink plenty of water. Water is the number one fuel source for your heart, so the more water you drink the more fuel your heart has to work with and the better the circulation and performance. According to a new study, people who drink five or more glasses of water per day can lower their risk of a fatal heart attack when compared to those who drank less than two glasses of water per day.? Drinking energy drinks and soft drinks is incredibly dangerous for your heart as these types of drinks actually dehydrate you because of the high amounts of sugars, caffeine and other toxic chemicals. ?Dehydration will increase plasma and blood viscosity which is a major factor of cardiovascular heart disease.

A heart attack can seriously affect your life in a very serious way and if some care and attention is paid to these simple suggestions you should be able to enjoy a better quality of life and definitely outlive those who do not take care of themselves.

Worries about dementia how hospitalization affects the elderly

Older people often worry about dementia and while some risks are known, for example alcoholism or stroke, the effects of illness are less clear. New research published in BioMed Central's open access journal Critical Care looks at illness requiring hospitalization and treatment in the intensive care unit (ICU) and finds that infection or severe sepsis, neurological dysfunction, such as delirium, or acute dialysis are all independently associated with an increased risk of a subsequent diagnosis of dementia.

This study was based on a random 5% of older (66 years or above) Medicare patients who were treated in intensive care in 2005 and whose health was followed for a further three years using Medicare claims data. Of the 25,368 patients included in the study 4,519 (17.8%) went on to receive a diagnosis of dementia during the three year follow up period.

Patients with previous indications of cognitive impairment for whom dementia could have been an escalation of a pre-existing condition were excluded from the study.

Increasing age was very strongly associated with diagnosis of dementia following ICU. The risk at 75 was more than double that of the 66 to 69 year olds. And this rose to more than five times the risk for those age 85 and older. Women had a marginally higher risk than men and, as other studies have shown, race was also important to risk. Length of stay in ICU was not a factor nor was the need for mechanical ventilation.

Three factors related to the critical illness were independently associated with an increased risk of a diagnosis of dementia: a critical illness with the presence of an infection which increased to a higher risk with more severe infection such as severe sepsis, having acute neurologic dysfunction during critical illness, including anoxic brain damage, encephalopathy, and transient mental disorders, and finally acute renal failure requiring dialysis. This last risk was time-dependent and only increased the risk 6 months after the patient had been discharged from hospital.

Dr Hannah Wunsch, from Columbia University Medical Center, lead author of the study commented, "Due to increasing life spans and better hospital care, millions of older people now survive a critical illness every year. Our study provides a greater understanding of the consequences of these hospitalizations on subsequent risk of receiving a diagnosis of dementia, and may allow for better planning and targeting future studies to high risk populations."

Bankruptcy ? Origin-situation-future-ahead | Finance Care Services

BankruptcyA much dreaded financial position of any player in the commercial scenario is ?bankruptcy?. The legal status of an individual or an entity on becoming insolvent is what we call bankruptcy. Bankruptcy originates from the Latin words banc us-bench and ruptus-broken which means a bank being broken or liquidated.

Situation of bankruptcy is usually a favorable position for creditors rather than the debtors. Creditors have chances of recovering some part of their entire amount of dues. However debtors also have the option to make arrangements for payment of their dues from accumulated value of assets by avoiding the huge burden of outstanding debts.

While discussing the term bankruptcy, we usually refer to it as insolvency. But we must know as per legal methodologies are concerned the two terms have a fine distinction. When a debtor, whether an individual or organization fails to pay their dues it is defined as insolvency. Situation of bankruptcy usually originates from legislative intervention by filing of petition either by the debtor or on behalf of the creditor.

It is commonly found that bankruptcy proceedings are initiated by debtors, where all the assets of the debtor are revalued and then used to pay a part of their outstanding dues. Once all the legal proceedings of bankruptcy are completed the debtor is freed from all his obligations. Bankruptcy laws and filing of it is in general beneficial for the economy as a whole, as it gives both the concerned party a chance- debtors are given time and legal assistance to pay off a part of their debts without being burdened by the entire amount. And the creditors have chances of debt recovery hence are saved form suffering total losses.

There is no such law prevalent in India regarding corporate bankruptcy however there is law dealing with individual bankruptcy from 1874 onwards. However Global system of law has different opinion and proceedings for the terms- bankruptcy, insolvency, liquidation and dissolution. The world during both pre and post industrial revolution phase has witnessed drastic situations of bankruptcy which had a tremendous negative impact on the world economy. Hence to bring an end to condition of bankruptcy and initiate a general development the then American president, Nixon brought about the nationalization of American banks from 1969 onwards, which acted as a remedial measure against bankruptcy. However one must be alert in identifying the nature of bankruptcy which at many times leads to well planned frauds.

The critical situation of bankruptcy should be dealt with great care by the people involved in the business sector. A man engaged in business must therefore keep his eyes and ears open for impending dangers that might lead to bankrupt condition. Situations like this can however be tackled by insurances and sound investment policies.

Re: FTM 10 Public Member Tree Search Results - Family Tree ...

This is ok if the problem is in the list of results in the top pane. It doesn't seem to work if you are having the problem in getting data for the selected result to appear in the lower right Search Result Detail window. All the results appear fine in the upper window for the person you've searched for, but there are certain Public Member Trees that just keep "loading" in the Search Result Detail window, keeping you from being able to get the data to merge.
