Lindsay Lohan Accused of Nightclub Drink-Tossing; Michael Lohan Defends Daughter

Troubled star Lindsay Lohan was the instigator, aggressor and drink-tosser in her latest nightclub melee ... according to a witness who is probably lying.

We've been tough critics of Lindsay in the past, but piling false accusations on the girl is becoming a major sport in Hollywood these days. Cut the BS.

The witness, who was with the other girl involved in the latest altercation with Lohan, says the whole thing began after a major misunderstanding.

Good Ol' Michael LohanLindsay Lohan, Red Hair

The girl was hanging out at the booth next to Lindsay's when Lohan tapped her on the shoulder aggressively and asked, "Did you bump into me?"

The girl denied the bump, and suggested the real culprit could have been one of the guys in Lindsay's group. She then pointed to one of the men.

Lindsay replied, according to the witness, "That's my dad ... why would he bump me?" The girl then shot back, "You go clubbing with your dad?"

That's when Lindsay snapped and told the girl off, and one or both ended up with cocktails thrown in their faces, depending on who you believe.

Michael Lohan, who originally came to help Linds after her assistant hit a car in the parking lot, then stayed to hang out, grabbed her and bailed.

Michael denies his daughter chucked any beverages and says it was Lindsay who was accosted and the recipient of the flying booze at the club.

Either way, the other girl is currently weighing her legal options. Big shocker. Sources close to Lindsay say her dad is telling the true story.

Hey, there's a silver lining: Michael and Lindsay on the same page! And even hanging out together! Sometimes adversity brings you together.

When do consumers react to social exclusion with charitable behavior?

ScienceDaily (Apr. 16, 2012) ? People who feel ignored tend to engage in conspicuous consumption, whereas consumers who are rejected are more likely to volunteer or donate to a worthy cause, according to a new study in the Journal of Consumer Research.

"The need to belong is considered to be universal across cultures, and in fact, cultures themselves may reflect the need to belong," write authors Jaehoon Lee (University of Houston-Clear Lake) and L.J. Shrum (University of Texas at San Antonio). "One need only look at the clothing of college students -- much of which displays affiliation through school logos and colors -- to see its magnitude."

But what happens when consumers experience social exclusion? The authors examined different types of social exclusion and consumer responses to them. "We propose that when relational needs, such as self-esteem and belonging, are primarily threatened, people attempt to fortify those needs by feeling, thinking, and behaving in a prosocial, affiliative manner, because prosocial acts such as helping other increase interpersonal attractiveness and help reconnect with society," the authors write. But when their need for control and a meaningful existence is threatened, people act out in provocative and attention-getting ways.

The authors conducted four experiments where people either felt ignored or rejected. The researchers asked people to recall actual experiences or they simulated exclusion by arranging for participants to feel left out or antagonized in online exchanges. Afterward, the participants took purportedly separate surveys on behavioral intentions and actual behavior. For conspicuous consumption, the researchers asked about preferences for brand logos. For prosocial behavior, they asked about willingness to donate money or volunteer.

"Being ignored increased preferences for clothing with conspicuous brand logos, but it had no effect on prosocial behavior," the authors write. "In contrast, being rejected increased prosocial behavior, but had no effect for clothing with conspicuous brand logos."

State of IL Fire Officials Introduce Autism Awareness Training For ...

Free Training Educates Fire and EMS Personnel to Better Understand Autism Spectrum Disorders

AURORA--(ENEWSPF)--April 16, 2012. ?The Office of the State Fire Marshal (OSFM), in partnership with the Illinois Fire Service Institute and Giant Steps, today announced a new training program for firefighters and emergency medical services (EMS) personnel to help better protect individuals with autism spectrum and related disorders.? The new program, available online at no cost, helps first responders to recognize autism disorders during an emergency response and better understand techniques to communicate.? The training also includes an award program, whereby Giant Steps shall provide acknowledgement to fire departments whose personnel obtain this training.

?This is important training to better prepare first responders,? explained State Fire Marshal Larry Matkaitis.? ?Autism spectrum and similar disorders may affect the way someone reacts during high stress situations and first responders need to recognize and understand an effective way to keep them safe.???

This training program was created at the request of State Senator Edward Maloney (D-18, Chicago), State Representative Linda Chapa LaVia (D-83, Aurora) and State Representative Sid Mathias (R-53, Arlington Heights) who worked with the Office of the State Fire Marshal to develop this training at no cost to local fire departments.?

?I would like to thank State Fire Marshal Matkaitis, Giant Steps Chairman of the Board Christine Thornton Wiener and Giant Steps Executive Director Bridget O?Connor for establishing this unique partnership,? stated Senator Maloney.? ?Their collaboration to promote this training will have a meaningful impact as firefighters are better-prepared to meet the needs of individuals with autism.?
?
?This program is about ensuring the safety of our first responders as well as those with autism and similar disorders,? said Rep. Chapa LaVia. ?By providing free training for first responders, we can raise awareness and better assist those who are living with autism. I am proud to be a part of this life saving program and look forward to continuing to work with my colleagues and the State Fire Marshal to further improve public safety.?

?Autism is a real world problem that deserves real world training, especially for first responders,? said Rep. Mathias.? ?With child autism rates continually on the rise, firefighters and paramedics will be faced with increasing circumstances that involves a person with autism.? This training will improve the skills of our first responders and will help increase the safety for individuals on the autism spectrum.?

?On behalf of the citizens of Aurora, I would like to commend those involved in making this important training a reality,? stated Aurora Mayor Tom Weisner as he welcomed the announcement to the Aurora Central Fire Station.? ?Our first responders are faced with a multitude of challenges on a daily basis and it is vitally important to ensure they are equipped not only a physical level?but that they are fully prepared to address the needs of all of our citizens.?

The program entitled ?Autism Spectrum and Similar Disorders in Emergency Situations? was developed by staff at the Illinois Fire Service Institute in consultation with various experts and publications from across the United States.? The program provides an awareness-level introduction to firefighters and emergency medical personnel who may encounter individuals with autism both in low stress and high risk situations.?

?Fire and EMS personnel provide a wide range of responses to the public, from activated fire alarms and medical calls to car crashes and working structure fires,? explained Illinois Fire Service Institute Director Richard Jaehne.? ?These are incredibly stressful events for everyone, and even more so for someone who has autism.? This program helps prepare firefighters to better deal with such events in a manner that is safer and more effective for both the individual and the firefighter.?

Fire departments who participate in this program with a personnel completion rate of 75% or more shall receive recognition by Giant Steps Illinois.? The recognition will include a plaque for the fire station and a logo magnet to affix on a fire truck.?

?We believe this recognition will help raise awareness for the importance of autism awareness training,? stated Giant Steps Executive Director Bridget O?Connor.? ?Families served by these fire departments can see this recognition on a fire truck or at the fire station and feel a sense of comfort that firefighters care to better understand how to protect individuals with autism spectrum disorder.?

The training program is available through a link at the Office of the Illinois State Fire Marshal?s website (www.sfm.illinois.gov) or directly through the Illinois Fire Service Institute website (www.fsi.illinois.edu).?? Anyone interested to participate in this training program must register free of charge through the Illinois Fire Service Institute.?

Unlike positive word, bad news travels faster, and is much more powerful. Because information can easily be published on the Internet, the Internet enables the common consumer to tell it like it is if they?re unsatisfied and, although certain sites can remove downright nasty or profane reviews, they often don?t remove negative reviews, as those have value to their visitors. Hence, the importance of reputation management services.

The reputation of any business can be permanently hurt even by a seemingly small comment posted online. This has enabled the reputation management services industry to succeed, and to remove negative reviews that could significantly harm struggling small businesses. Video: Zimmerman in custody, charged with murder

>>> the armed neighborhood watch volunteer who shot an unarmed teenager named trayvon martin after a scuffle, has been charged with murder in the second degree. he has been free, released by police in sanford, florida . he was not arrested until just late today. after weeks of protests and national attention, the case of trayvon martin has now entered a decidedly new phase. our team is in place, and we begin our coverage of this still unfolding tonight with kerry sanders in florida . good evening.

>> good evening. the special prosecutor has charged george zimmerman with second degree murder. george zimmerman , 28 years old, was taken into custody, according to the special prosecutor . he turned himself into the federal department of law enforcement. there was no issue in the fact that he was taken into custody. he is going to eventually be brought here within the next 24 hours to sanford, to the seminole county court where he will be read the charges officially and also have his first appearance where he can ask for a bond to be released from jail. this is what angela corey had to say just a few minutes ago.

>> today, we filed an information charging george zimmerman with murder in the second degree. a capias has been issued for his arrest. with the filing of that information and the issuance of the capias, he will have a right to appear in front of a magistrate in seminole county within 24 hours of his arrest and thus formal prosecution will begin.

>> the special prosecutor says that if zimmerman suggests he did nothing wrong because of florida 's stand your ground law, she will fight that vigorously. now, zimmerman 's new attorney said he's concerned about his client getting a fair trial .

>> he's concerned about getting a fair trial and a fair presentation. there's obviously been a lot of information flowing. i think a lot of it has been both premature and maybe inappropriate. i don't think a case like this should be tried here, and it's not going to be.

>> defense attorney marcos maris said when zimmerman is arraigned on the charges, he will plead not guilty.
